Abstract
For some time many cable television systems have been using in the so-called "midband" and "superband" frequencies which are assigned to aeronautical radio services in the over-the-air radio spectrum. It is commonly anticipated that the use of such frequencies will increase as more and more services are provided on cable systems. Thus, it is important to know (1) whether signal leakage from cable systems can be of sufficient magnitude to cause harmful interference to aeronautical radio services, and (2) if so, can the presence of such high leakage fields be reliably detected by the cable operator or by federal or local enforcement personnel, using reasonably simple methods.
