Unstabilized weakly reducible Heegaard splittings

Abstract

In this paper, we give a su ffi cient condition for a (weakly reducible) Heegaard splitting to be unstabilized and uncritical. We also give a su ffi cient condition for a Heegaard splitting to be critical.
