Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 28 patients. Demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients at the time of initiation of peritoneal dialysis were recorded from the patient files. Laboratory data within the last month before the initiation of peritoneal dialysis and in the first year were recorded from the patient files. The mean platelet volume to platelet count ratio was calculated as mean platelet volume (femtolitres) divided by platelet count (number of thousand platelets/microliter). Results: The mean age was 51.1 ± 14.6 years, and 42.8% of the patients were male. Diabetic nephropathy and hypertensive nephropathy were the most common causes of end-stage renal disease. One year after the initiation of peritoneal dialysis, the urea level decreased significantly, and C-reactive protein level increased significantly.
