The effect of disinfection products on the scratch resistance, surface roughness and total color change of laminate flooring

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the visual deterioration, scratch resistance, surface roughness and color changes of laminate flooring against the effect of disinfection products. For this purpose, hand and surface disinfectants and cologne were applied to the laminate flooring surfaces obtained from the market in two different effect times (16 and 24 hours) according to TS EN 12720:2009+A. Visual inspection of laminate flooring was determined according to TS EN 12720, scratch resistance TS EN 15186, surface roughness TS 6956 EN ISO 4287/A1 and total color change ASTM D2244 principles. According to the results of the study, no visible defects such as discoloration, brightness and color change, swelling detected on the parquet surfaces. While the surface roughness and total color change values decreased in general, all disinfectant products decreased the scratch resistance in all effect times.
