Abstract

It is believed that the low involvement of women in entrepreneurial initiatives can be based among other factors to a greater number of obstacles perceived compared to men, as well as the difference in motivation between both genders. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a significant difference between the motivations and obstacles to starting a business among men and women students from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez. A quantitative comparative research type was performed with a transverse contrast horizon looked through the comparison of means, the obstacles and motivations perceived by students of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez, UACJ, divided according to gender. The results suggested that there exist a significant difference in the motivations for starting a business men and women studying in UACJ. Conversely, obstacles presented no significant difference between groups.
