Abstract

Before some moments of history, one has the impression, sometimes, that the human being and nature are opponents, due to so many aggressions provoked to the environment. So many clues show that the earth’s climate has abruptly altered by works of influential human behavior. In an attempt to help understand and respond to this great challenge, sustainability is considered as a minimizing element of this aggression. This is a central issue today. In order to create a new perspective for education, it is important to articulate education and sustainability in the awareness of environmental education. In the search to find a relationship between education and sustainability, this article aims to reflect on the ecological paradigm, the problem of sustainability, the challenges for a sustainable education, besides presenting sustainability as the integrating axis of education.
