Abstract

A 68-year-old female patient with 21-year history of entire ulcerative colitis was admitted for abdominal pain and hematochezia. The patient was successfully treated with azathiopurine and infliximab five years previously. However, this combination therapy was discontinued due to cryptococcus meningitis. Since then, she had been under monotherapy of oral mesalazine (4,000 mg/day). Colonoscopy on admission revealed active inflammation in the rectum and sigmoid colon. She dislike 5-ASA enema.
