Abstract

We may be more informed by journalistic stereotypes than by facts about the population of the aged. While older people of the future may be better educated and more prosperous, many may also be more isolated and frail. Happy mythology to the contrary, a good many aged people presently lead a marginal existence. We can anticipate a much greater number of fragile, lonely people in future years. The authors argue that intervention requires an intentional ministry to the isolated elderly.
