Study on the Trade Efficiency and Potential of Agricultural Products between China and the Ten ASEAN Countries

Abstract

Based on the stochastic frontier gravity model and the trade non-efficiency model, this paper estimates the trade efficiency and potential of agricultural products between China and the ten ASEAN countries from 2008 to 2019 and analyzes the influencing factors of trade efficiency be-tween the two sides. The study suggests that the overall efficiency of agricultural trade between China and ASEAN is on the rise. In addition to GDP, population and other natural factors, political stability, Internet penetration, whether to sign free trade agreements, commercial freedom and investment freedom will also have an impact on agricultural trade efficiency.
