Investing in relationships – An extract from the SCA Presidential Address, March 2011

Abstract

This article is an extract from a presidential address given by Nancy Hamilton of Salvation Army Housing Association to the Social Care association Annual Seminar in March 2011. Through her year of office Nancy Hamilton had come to recognize the vital importance of relationships up, down, and across the social care sector. She asserts that relationship failure is the source of demand of most social care services and action to improve their maintenance could lead to significant savings. She also recognizes the role of relationships in the provision, commission, and management of social care services
