Section 2. Objectives and examinations

Abstract

An introductory course for students in the first year of medical studies (propaedeutics) is intended to acquaint the students with basic problems of medical studies, the specific character of the medical profession and the conditions for effective learning. The particular objectives of propaedeutics are defined from an analysis of intellectual, emotional and social needs of the students and the difficulties arising in the initial period of the studies in a medical school. The nature of these is illustrated by some answers to the questionnaire shown in Table 1.
