Abstract
The scattering cross sections of light by free electrons into the first two harmonics are evaluated neglecting the variation of the electron mass with velocity. It is observed that while the scattering cross section for the second harmonic is unaltered4 the intensity-dependent terms in the cross section for scattering into the principal mode are unexpectedly different.
