Abstract
Summary A three-dimensional deformation problem for articular cartilage layer is considered in the framework of the linear biphasic poroviscoelastic theory. The solid matrix of biphasic layer is assumed to be transversely isotropic. A short-time leading-order asymptotic solution is obtained for a relatively thin biphasic poroviscoelastic layer bonded to a rigid impermeable substrate.
期刊介绍:
The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics publishes original research articles on the application of mathematics to the field of mechanics interpreted in its widest sense. In addition to traditional areas, such as fluid and solid mechanics, the editors welcome submissions relating to any modern and emerging areas of applied mathematics.
