Christian welfare ideologies: The basis of human welfare

Abstract

Abstract In response to the over‐emphasis on individualism and materialism, conflicting class relations, and fragmentation of human needs caused by the discourse of Marxism and free market philosophy on social welfare, this article explores the nature of human welfare from Christian ideologies. It is found that pursuing human dignity, and promoting social fellowship and justice are ultimate goals of the Christian welfare approach. Thus Christian values are likely to provide us an alternative ideological base for developing human welfare in the modern world.
