Abstract

Objectives

The aim of this case report is to review the management of malocclusions characterized by contraction of the dental arches and deep bite.

Materials and methods

These cases can be easily and successfully managed with the straight-wire system and Time 2 Self ligating - Low friction brackets.

Results

The treatment is very simple to performed and it appreciably increases the transverse diameters that result in an ideal overbite.

Conclusions

Dentoalveolar expansion achieved with Self-ligating - Low-friction brackets is identical to that obtained with other devices that are more difficult to manage (e.g., the Quad Helix appliance); an additional advantage is improved periodontal healthy resulting from the use of lighter forces.
