Risoluzione di un caso parodontale con grave componente miofunzionale

Abstract

Objectives

The aim of this work is to illustrate the characteristics of the Invisalign technique and its application in a case with periodontal disease and strong muscular dysfunction.

Materials and methods

The authors describe the usefulness of the Invisalign technique, which allows to control oral hygiene, plaque index, and papillary bleeding index better than traditional fixed orthodontic appliances.

Results

After the initial therapy, periodontal health improved and was maintained throughout the alignment obtained by the Invisalign technique.

Conclusions

Invisalign can be considered the treatment of choice in patients with severe periodontal problems and when the patient's compliance during chairside work cannot be expected.
