Abstract
The origin of dark matter (DM) which forms 27% of the Universe is still a puzzle. Though the existence of DM has been realized in various astronomical observations via gravitational interactions, DM has not been observed yet in any particle physics experiments, e.g., collider, direct and indirect detection of DM, etc. In this review, we discuss the thermal and non-thermal origin of DM in the context of particle physics models. We discuss the constraints on DM from the ongoing collider and direct and indirect detection experiments. We discuss the possibility to use the sub-GeV mass for DM where the origin of this type of DM can be either thermal or non-thermal. The ongoing beam-dump-based neutrino experiments seem to be providing interesting avenues to detect them.
