Abstract

The leaf beetle genus Phaedon (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) contains 16 species in temperate and subtropical regions (Ge et al., 2015). Some species such as P. cochleariae Fabricius, P. armoraciae Linnaeus, and P. brassicae Baly are major pests of cruciferous crops (Ge et al., 2015). The European species P. cochleariae has been frequently used as a model species for studying the genetics, physiology, and ecology of leaf beetles (e.g. Rostás et al., 2002; Kühnle and Müller, 2011; Pauchet and Heckel, 2013; Müller and Juškauskas, 2018). Like P. cochleariae, the Asian species P. brassicae has also been recently studied (e.g. Wang et al., 2007a, b; Sato et al., 2014; Matsubara and Sugiura, 2018).
