The physicochemical properties of the amidoamine surfactant were calculated from surface tension and conductance measurements giving a critical micelle concentration of 8.04 × 10 -3 mM which is quite lower than conventional surfactants. The amidoamine also exhibits a good foaming ability and wettability. Abstract

Lauramidopropyl dimethylamine was quaternised using Lauryl Bromide to synthesize a double chain cationic surfactant. The surfactant was obtained in good yield without the use of any solvent. Amidoamine cationic surfactant chemical structure was analyzed using mass spectroscopic technique.
