Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were carried out to evaluate the fit of the structural model. The EFA indicated two factors, paternal monitoring and maternal monitoring, confirmed in the CFA, with acceptable indicators of internal consistency and stability. The PMQ was associated with performance in Portuguese, self-concept and satisfaction with life, particularly regarding the family. Abstract
