Importancia cultural de especies forestales útiles, en tres comunidades de la Sierra de Huautla, Morelos, México

Abstract

In the mountains of Sierra de Huautla prevails a deciduous low jungle (DLJ) with a great diversity both in ora and fauna. ere are not enough jobs for the inhabitants in this ecosystem. us, an alternative for making a living has been to exploit the forest resources. is research aims to identify the cultural importance of some forest species as a part of the rural development processes in three communities found in the Sierra de Huautla. e index of useful plant cultural prevalence for Forest Species was calculated (DCPU ́f ). e highest DCPU ́f were found for the Cuachalalate (Amphiterigium adstringensSchltdl), Cuatecomate (Crescentia alata Kunth), Palo Brasil (Haematoxylum brasiletto Karsten), Palo dulce (Eysenhardtia polystachya (Ort.) Sarg.) Cubata (Acacia coclichanta), Tecolohuixtle (Mimosa benthamii R. Grether and A. Martínez) and Tepemezquite (Lysiloma divaricatum Jacq. J.F. Macbr.). ese species are classied as multi-purpose.
