Nuevas perspectivas sobre la colonización cisterciense en el noroeste peninsular: la renovadora gestión del Abad Gómez Pérez (1230-1262) y su huella

Abstract

The Asturian monastery of Villanueva de Oscos, bordering Galicia, is a good example of the Cistercian colonization that shaped the traditional agrarian landscape of northwestern Spain. Articulated around the figure and determining mandate of Abbot Gómez Pérez, in the second third of the 13th century, this work analyses the intense task it faced, and seeks to assess both the originality of its solutions and the continuity of its approaches in the subsequent monastic administration. The method used, in the light of the reference bibliography, comparing his period with the previous tradition and the customs of other institutions: Belmonte, Meira, Carracedo, Oseira and Moreruela. El monasterio asturiano de Villanueva de Oscos, limitáneo con Galicia, constituye un buen ejemplo de la colonización cisterciense que conformó el paisaje agrario tradicional del noroeste peninsular. Articulado en torno a la figura y el mandato determinante del abad Gómez Pérez, en el segundo tercio del siglo XIII, este trabajo analiza la intensa tarea que afronta, y pretende valorar tanto la originalidad de sus soluciones como la continuidad de sus planteamientos en la administración monástica posterior. El método empleado, a la luz de la bibliografía de referencia, compara su periodo con la tradición anterior y los usos de otros monasterios: el asturiano de Belmonte, los gallegos de Meira y Oseira, el leonés de Carracedo, y el zamorano de Moreruela.
