Abstract

An overview of boring Australian Eophliantidae is provided along with the description of two new species of the genus Bircenna Chilton, 1884, B.thielisp. nov. and B.hinojosaisp. nov. Interestingly, these species co-occur in samples of the bull kelp Durvillaeapotatorum (Labillardière) Areschoug, 1854 collected in Tasmania, Australia and present a number of novel urosomite and telson structures not previously recorded. An updated key to the 16 world species is given.
