Abstract

Blockades are sometimes an effective means for a State to disrupt trade and commerce of an adversary State, and public international law has developed specific legal principles regarding blockades. The article examines the treatment of blockades under international law, and the scope for affected investors to bring investment treaty claims arising from international blockades.
