Abstract

The authorities took care of order by prohibiting some acts considered illegal by the new values of modernity. From this urban transformation, a moralization of the central streets would be born that alienated the marginalized neighborhoods and took care of the relaxation of good customs, instead, the activities of respectable citizens were allowed: selling, buying, living together and developing the representations of the show of the decency and the new way of life that marked modernity.
