Abstract

Abstract:In The Green Knight, a cinematic adaptation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, director David Lowery includes a lingering shot of Gawain’s ejaculate. Lowery reframes this pornographic image as an alienating, rather than pleasureful, experience; in so doing, he probes similar themes concerning displeasure’s effects as the Gawain-Poet.
