Abstract

This research seeks to know the ecological conditions of the upper basin of the Tota river (Boyacá), where 3 samplings were carried out in 6 stations between May and July 2021. The physicochemical variables did not show significant variability, the predominance of some groups (Hyallelidae family) is evident and changes to the richness of taxa. 1694 individuals belonging to 15 families and 7 orders were found. Tota river show to be oxygenated, cold, little mineralized and with a slightly basic pH. The values BMWP/Col index are between critical and acceptable, with an average value of 47 (acceptable quality). Low values of tolerance to the variation of the physicochemical conditions were evidenced in the families Hydrobiosidae, Perlidae, Chrysomelidae, Tabanidae, Scirtidae, Baetidae, Hyalellidae and Ptilodactylidae; the families that would be associated with levels of tolerance to greater fluctuations of the aquatic physicochemical characteristics, such as the families Muscidae, Elmidae, Ceratopogonidae, Simuliidae.
