Abstract
The benefits of repairing a plantar plate tear are well described in the literature. Unfortunately, because of the anatomic location of the tear, repair with a dorsal incision is often quite difficult. To combat this, multiple published techniques, as well as industry-designed products, have been developed for visualization of the tear and suture passing. We present a novel method for dorsal repair of the plantar plate structures utilizing a straight needle FiberLoop suture and standard operative instrumentation. This technique greatly reduces the instrumentation and “fiddle factor” required for the repair. Level of Clinical Evidence: Diagnostic Level V.
