Abstract
Examination of an old collection of adult biting midges of the genus Forcipomyia Meigen, 1818 from Afghanistan revealed six species, placed within four subgenera: Forcipomyia (3 species), Microhelea
(1 species), Synthridomyia (1 species) and Thyridomyia (1 species). Five species are new records, Forcipomyia (Forcipomyia) szadziewskii n. sp. is described as a new member of this genus from this country.
