Abstract

ƒThis is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License (http://creativecommons.org/ license/by-nc/3.0/). Accumulation of succinate promotes Salmonella pathogenic program during intracellular infection. Using RNA-seq, increased mRNA expression of the genes in pmrAB and Salmonella pathogenicity island2 (SPI-2) regulon is measured in succinate-containing medium. Furthermore, uptake of host metabolic succinate through DcuB transporter also induces program for Salmonella virulence.
