Disability is a general term that includes impaired function, limited activity, and social function, covering three aspects: body structure and function, activity, and social participation. Disability is the result of a combination of physical and mental decline in the elderly and the external environment. The concept of disability was first proposed by sociologist Saad Nagi in 1965. In China, the concept of disability has been widely applied for only 20 years. At present, there is no targeted disability prevention guide for the elderly in China. Therefore, it is necessary to develop core disability prevention information suitable for Chinese people based on the current situation of disability among the elderly in China, in order to guide the prevention of disability among the elderly in China.
