Abstract

This brief but substantial book is many things: a memoire and autobiographical meditation; a historical intro to the origins, ﬁ gures, literature, practices, and geography of early Christian monasticism; a highly comparative and interdisciplinary digital-humanities art piece; and a re ﬂ ection on environmentalism. Alongside urban sprawl, the consequences of the colonial enterprise are also considered, to an extent.
