Abstract

Abstract The abrupt transition to fully remote instruction and work due to COVID-19 forced many academic libraries to strategically move to e-preferred acquisition models while also facing new budgetary and staffing constraints. This article traces the evolution of streaming video acquisitions at Yale Library, and the impact of COVID-19 on video collection development and funding, as well as the development of technical workflows for the acquisition, receipt, and management of streaming video. It also discusses lessons learned and opportunities for future growth including cross-departmental training and collaboration, routine usage assessment for budgeting and discoverability purposes, and development of a holistic video collection development policy.
