For this meta-analysis, odds ratio and 95% confidence interval were extracted or calculated. The pool of studies was processed by the random effects method.Results Twenty-six studies were included in this meta-analysis. Sleep duration of ≤ 8 hours per day (h/d) (odds ratio = 1.58 and 95% confidence interval = [1.41–1.77]) and sleep duration of > 8 h/d (odds ratio = 1.32 and 95% confidence interval = [1.17–1.50]) are associated with poor self-rated health. Poor sleep quality and insomnia are associated with poor self-rated health.
