Their rationale for the book is to highlight the quiet, unassuming, but vital work of community development practitioners. As a profession committed to social justice and positive transformation, the authors write that to develop a clear understanding of the why and the how is important to develop a better profile for the profession, but possibly more interesting than this, is the need to develop a clear and more focussed insight into the effectiveness of the approach. The book is a great contribution to the field and will be of interest to anyone who is committed to fully understanding the social impact of their research.
