Abstract

There is an opinion about the prospects of studying the play in the context of language, culture and media. The phenomenon of the play through the prism of deontic, apodictic and hypothetical levels of D. Zilberman’s modal methodology is presented. It is revealed that at the deontic level of modalization, the play, as part of the indicated planes, is revealed through the concept of language games by L. Wittgenstein, understanding the essence of the play in the culture of J. Huizinga, F. Schiller and G. Hesse and in the context of “mass media reality” by N. Luhmann. It is substantiated that the dynamism of language development, the application of the game approach to the characterization of culture and the representation of the media space as a total play (J. Baudrillard) represent the essence of the apodictic level of modalization of the phenomenon of the play. It is proposed to comprehend the hypothetical level of modalization of the play by demonstrating the process of transformation of the research phenomenon in the context of language, culture and media, manifested through the theory of performatives, the phenomenon of Bakhtin’s carnival and manipulations, information throws and fakes in media reality.
