Transforming the Nation’s Degree-Centric Postsecondary System to an Incremental Credential System

Abstract

Dr. Holly Zanville is a Research Professor and Codirector of the Program on Skills, Credentials & Workforce Policy at George Washington University, and co-lead of Credential As You Go. She has served as a Strategy Director at Lumina Foundation, and held leadership positions at state higher education systems/boards in Oregon and Washington, and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education; academic positions at community college and nontraditional university programs in multiple states; and consulted on K–20 strategic planning, skills-to-jobs network, and distance education platforms. Dr. Nan Travers is Director of the Center for Leadership in Credentialing Learning at SUNY Empire State College. She has served as Principal Investigator (PI) for two Lumina Foundation grants that explored the learn-and-work ecosystem and impact of evaluating work-based learning and incremental credentialing on the future of higher education, and currently serves as PI and co-lead of Credential As You Go .
