Abstract
One of the preponderant themes debated in the Querelle de Fammes, or, in fact, the central theme of the controversy at least as far as the fifteenth century is concerned, is the moral value of the female sex and its intrinsic virtue. The moral value, but also spiritual and philosophical, was determined above all by the figure of Eve, traditionally linked to a negative image of women. Those who defend the female sex are based on theological arguments in their writings, since they are fundamental arguments to show the moral value of women. This article describes and deepens the exposition of Agostino Strozzi (one of the most significant Italian philologists of the late fifteenth century) in his work Defensione delle donne (Defenses of women).
