Abstract

The article studies the arrangement of reading in the firs stage of higher education. The author states diverse methods and techniques for the improvement of the students` reading comprehension. It is suggested that teachers should present several cognitive strategies such as activating, inferring, monitoring-clarifying, questioning, searching-selecting, summarizing, and visualising-organizing. All these methods and strategies are very essential in terms of preparing students for further study and developing their reading skills.
