Abstract
Introduction. Examining the value of quality space is not simple, as we not only need to see the design, but also need to feel it, particularly personal space in libraries. This article aims to examine the quality of space that may affect the user’s personal space.
Methodology. This study used a quantitavie approach, purposive sampling technique, with a total sample of 100 users at the Office of Library and Archive East Java with certain criteria.
Data Analysis. The primary data was converted to interval data by using MSI transformation method and tested by using validity, reliability, simple linear regression and t-test.
Results and Discussion. The results show that the quality of space simultaneously have an impact on the users’ personal space, however, the strength of the impact of space quality on personal space is weak.
Conculsion. Quality of space that is not ideal may disturb the personal space of library users. This research may become a reference in designing library space based on user needs.
