Abstract This piece introduces the special issue of Internet Reference Services Quarterly: debate on the use of social media in the post-truth era. It reviews of the debate of Michael Gorman Vs. Web 2.0 in 2007, and calls for new debates/discussions among library and information professionals on social media in the new era when some fear that social media has become an engine of radicalization and political manipulation.
