Abstract
Anacamptodon latidens is discovered in the Russian Caucasus as a species new to the territory of Europe as the latter is defined in recent Checklists. Previously these Caucasian specimens were reported as A. splachnoides, hence the latter species is excluded from moss flora of Russia, although it occurs in Georgia in the Caucasus close to the Russian border. Problems with the morphological delimitation between A. latidens and A. splachnoides are discussed, appearing to be more complicated than it was considered previously. The analysis of DNA sequence data has been undertaken and revealed that Anacamptodon from Dagestan is A. latidens.
