Abstract
In September, 1974 the sugar mill workers joined together by FOTIA (Sugar mill workers’ federation), paralyzed the sugar cane harvest for more than two weeks challenging the policies of the Social Deal of the Peronist government and causing losses to the companies. In this article, we propose to make a reconstruction of the strike and an analysis of its reasons. Likewise, we intend to investigate the types of organization and the stand points of the different political branches inside the union. In order to do so, we will use the available bibliography together with press publications (national, local, labor union’s, political parties’), and interviews with ex workers.
