Abstract

A comparative analysis of trends in beverage-specific alcohol sales per capita and sex-specific mortality coefficients of different types of cancer in Russia between 1956 and 2005 was performed. A positive relationship between trends in vodka sales and cancer of upper digestive tract (lip, mouth and throat), large intestine cancer, trachea, bronchi and lung cancer and prostate cancer.
