Abstract
While perforated‐slot backing plates are universally used to ruggedize today's foldable OLED display modules, we investigated an alternative approach incorporating freestanding ribs connected by a low modulus spring material. We explore manufacturing options and offer a closed‐form structural analysis of both types to inform applications of the alternative approach.
