Pope Leo XIII's Hymns for the Feast of the Holy Family

Abstract

ABSTRACT:The three hymns that Pope Leo XIII wrote for the Office of the newly established feast of the Holy Family are especially worthy of attention by Catholics. Far from being sterile or pretentious, they are the fruits of decades of meditation by a life-long poet who was entirely at home with the Latin language. They are imbued with profound sentiment, and they illustrate key themes of Leo's teachings, especially with regard to labor.
