Abstract

Chaetopyrena penicillata is reported for the first time as a lichenicolous fungus. A culture and a sequence were obtained from material growing on Xanthoria parietina . Features of the culture on PDA and MEA, the ecology and geography, and the phylogenetic position within Didymellaceae based on an ITS sequence are given. A key to the lichenicolous coelomycetes with setose pycnidia is also provided.
