The treatment applies the biocontrol agent Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn (commercial strain QST 713) in combination with barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) green manure. This is compared to a chemical control (conventional treatement). The results show improved crop performance in the integrated management plot, with lower incidence of the disease during both sprouting (10.48%) and tuberization (14.26%) stages, as compared to the conventional management (control), which has incidences of 18.48% and 21.99%, respectively. No differences are found in the incidence of black scurf on tubers. However, disease severity is higher in the control plot than in the treatment plot.
