The possibility that other species of Gibbomyzus are still to be discovered is commented on. Abstract

Gibbomyzus is recorded for the first time in South America; it was known in Costa Rica and Mexico. Gibbomyzus favreti sp. n. is described from apterous and alate viviparous females collected in Salta and Jujuy provinces (Argentine Northwest) on Jungia polita Griseb. (Asteraceae) and on an unidentified species of climbing dicot. It is the second species of Gibbomyzus Nieto Nafría, Pérez Hidalgo, Martínez-Torres and Villalobos Muller, 2013 (Aphididae, Aphidinae, Macrosiphini).
