Abstract

In the 1990s, humankind experienced social changes that led to the emergence of the information society. It was a new form of social existence in which the primary role is to collect, store, analyze and pass on networked information. The article focuses on the emergence of the information society and its transitions into Society 5.0. This transition came in the context of digital individualism, and its consequences are visible in the transformations in civilizing urbanization. The article represents a theoretical retrospective based on the systematic literature review of the existing scientific and professional literature on the current human challenges in a smart environment

Since its foundation in 1964, it has published many seminal articles on development and opened up new areas of debate. The editors also welcome surveys of the literature in important fields of development policy. All research articles in this journal undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous peer review. Given the high level of submissions, a majority of submissions are rejected quickly with reasons.
